A Month of THANKFULNESS

My Family

Greg, my wonderful husband

James, our oldest son

Andy, our #2 son

Rob, our #3 son (he and Andy are twins)

Allen, #4 son

Will, #5 son

Bryant, #6 son (Katie's husband)

Katie, #1 daughter

Amy Lynn, #2 daughter

Amy Kate, Andy's fiance ~ almost daughter

Jennifer, Allen's fiance ~ almost daughter

Robert, #1 grandson

We had an awesome day today

Dinner was turkey, dressing, gravy, ham, sweet potatoes, rolls, green beans, black eyed peas.
Watched the Dallas/Washington football game.
Desserts galore ~ pumpkin, pecan, & lemon pies, chocolate/caramel cupcakes.

Lots of baby love ~ some new toys to share with Robert.  The hit was his little stuffed pig that Granny gave him....he LOVES that pig ~ especially putting its snout in his mouth. He likes his ball toy too that we gave him.
The dogs weren't too sure about him but we made friends, Chip was the most inquisitive and like licking Roberts toes & fingers (don't freak out....we had wipes handy to clean up the puppy germs off the baby!)

Tomorrow we are going to a couple of stores after breakfast. Then home for more playtime.

All the girls are crafting some for Amy/Andy's wedding.  There has been a card table set up in my living room for tablespace for the baskets of ribbons, ric racks, and trims.  Now the Amy's and Katie are upstairs in Amy's room watching Disney movies and more crafting!

The rest of us are watching James Bond~

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Only TWO things would have made this day better....

Allen & Jennifer being here.  I missed them!

Biblical Thankfulness & Blessings from the Lord

Psalm 103:

1. Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me bless Hiss holy name!
2. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
3. Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
4. Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies.
5. Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6.  The Lord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.
7. He made know His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.
8. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
9. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities.
11.  For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him.
12. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13. As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him.
14. For He knows our frame: He remembers that we are dust.

17. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children.
18. To such as keep His covenants, and to those who remember His commandments and do them.

104:1

1. Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty.

EVERY good and perfect gift we have comes from our Heavenly Father.  He has blessed us immensely and we are very thankful for everything
He forgives our iniquities, heals our diseases, redeemed our lives, crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies, and executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.
What blessings for His children!

I pray each of you will have a very Happy Thanksgiving Day.
We will be blessed with a houseful of company and lots of goodies to eat.

they just keep going, and going, and going....

61.  I am thankful for these kids....
these are kids from our homeschool group that volunteered at the Operation Christmas Child Relay Center yesterday afternoon ~ ages baby - 18.  We are truly blessed to know such helpful, sweet, loving, giving, children.  They worked hard unloading shoeboxes from area churches (100's of them), counted the boxes, and put them in crates for shipment to the processing center.  The ladies of the church blessed us with pizza, vegies, desserts, and lots of drinks ~ which was awesome since we didn't have to worry about dinner on a Wed. night before church.

We look forward to this time every year and Amy, Will and I are going back today.

A Month of THANKFULNESS

I hope I NEVER run out of things to be thankful for.....

50. Beautiful, Full Canning Jars
I've been making jelly for several years, but last year, ventured out on my own for Pressure Canning.  I am hooked!  I love opening jars full of goodness for our meals! Right now, I've got some chicken in the pressure canner.  Some meat in jars is an awesome convenience!  Plus, it won't go bad during a power outage due to hurricane/tornado!

51.  Friends that hunt!
Sunday at church I was blessed with the news of venison for our family.  Our friend, Smokey, hunts and he is giving me some.  He took it to get processed on Monday & we should get the call soon that its ready.  We'll go pay the processing and enjoy his venison for many meals.  (Some will end up getting canned!)

52.  Manners
Please, thank you, May I, excuse me, God Bless You, yes m'am/sir, no m'am/sir ~ I realize different parts of the country have different thoughts and customs but we are in the South and these are ours.

53.  Young Men with courtesy
Holding the door open, carrying heavy packages, giving up their seat

54.  Anticipation
Its fun to look forward to things.  Its fun to plan for future things.

55. Cozy afternoons during the fall/winter
This is when Amy, Will, and I pull out our favorite DVD's and veg for a little bit.  Currently we are re-watching, Season 1 of Little House on the Prairie.  Another favorite is The Waltons.

56.  Hot Drinks
We love our hot chocolate in the mornings.  And our Hot Tea with some honey when we feel a cold coming on.  Very comforting & homey.

57.  Bible Drill
Amy & Will have done Bible Drill at church for the last 3 years.  Since they are seniors this year, it will be their last year.  They have learned lots of scriptures, can find books of the Bible quickly & have lots of fun with their friends learning these skills!  Its been a blessing in our family & I am thankful for this opportunity for them.

58.  Quilts/Blankets
I love the coziness of homemade quilts and blankets.

59.  Simplicity
The older I get, the more I want things simpler.  I'm tired of all the hoopla surrounding everything.

60.  Seasons
Here is the south, some years we only get 2 or 2 1/2 seasons.  This past year was summer, fall, 2 weeks of spring (thats where the 1/2 comes in) and back to summer.  It was over 90 alot of days in March/April...way too hot.  So we had a long summer this year, now we are experiencing a beautiful fall.  So I am hoping for a winter & spring this year!

A Month of THANKFULNESS

counting more blessings.....

45.  Godly Leaders/Pastors/Teachers
We live in an amazing age when we can turn on the internet and find some amazing, Godly Men to preach/teach/exhort/encourage/guide/interpret/share the Lords word from the Bible. (on the flip side, you can also find some that are not good! Be discerning!)
Sermon Audio is a great gathering of sermons that is updated frequently.
We listen to Doug Phillips, RC Sproul, Jim McClarty, John McArthur, Kevin Swanson, Scott Brown, Paul Washer, Voddie Baucham, Ray Comfort, Ken Ham, Steven Lawson, James White, Todd Friel.
One thing all these men have in common besides their love for Christ and His Word is they consistently point people to the cross, to Christ, to the truth.
In a world where many Pastors want to point people to their church, their beliefs, their doctrines, its refreshing to see/hear Pastors, Preach the Word.  Our family has benefited from listening to these men!
And with everything/anyone ~ check what they say compared with what the scriptures say. Don't just assume they are telling it accurately ~ men are humans that make mistakes.  This is where the discerning comes into play.

46.  Babies/Children
We love them!  Our little grandson Robert is a doll!  He brings much pleasure and blessings to our lives.  Our little church friends are wonderful!  VJ, KB, Corey, Lilly, Ragen, Sarah, Alston, Lauren!
I love all my waves, high 5's, sweet hugs, etc.  They can certainly brighten my spirits and fill my arms!

47.  Operation Christmas Child
This is a huge blessing in our lives and we are thankful for the opportunity to serve and pack shoeboxes every year. The kids and I plan for this all year and have money set aside in the budget each month to buy goodies for our boxes.  Last week, we covered the living room with our goodies & started packing.  Tomorrow we will deliver our boxes to the relay center and also stay and volunteer!  Its a fun, family activity for us and we cherish this time each year.  We've already started planning our boxes for next year!  In 51-52 weeks, we get to do it again!

48.  the Family working together
Working together, we can accomplish many tasks.  Its always more fun with helpers ~ laughter ~ accomplishments!

49.  3 Day Weekends
Oh, how I love these with Greg.  Being a State Employee, he gets some holidays throughout the year that are state/federal observed.  Its like having 2 Saturdays in one weekend!

more to come!

a Month of THANKFULNESS

More Thankfulness...

42.  Worship
I am thankful for all the ways to worship the Lord.
Song,
Music,
Prayer,
church attendance,
missions,
scripture

43.  Missions
Throughout my life, I have been honored/humbled/excited to serve the Lord through many different Mission opportunities.  I've traveled inside the USA to work in Florida, Oklahoma, downtown Atlanta and in the local churches I was a member of.  I've traveled internationally to Prince Edward Island, Canada & to Honduras.

44.  Serving the Lord
I've served the Lord in some of the following ways ~
taught Sunday School
helped in Childrens church
Many years of volunteering in Vacation Bible Schools/Backyard Bible Clubs
headed up our church's Fall Festival (2 x)
serving on different committees
and currently we are the church cooks for dinners and special occasions

A Month of THANKFULNESS

41. Dates with my husband ~
our 7 years of marriage have been filled with 7 kids, highschool graduations, band performances, ballet lessons and recitals, college visits, a wedding, etc.

I cherish our "alone" times

Last night it was Greg and I, the new James Bond movie, and sharing popcorn
Today it was Mugshots/watching football, running errands, just being together.

LIfe is sweet.
Thank you Lord for our time together!

A Month of THANKSGIVING

36. Honesty
I am thankful when people tell the truth!  Its simple really!

37.  Forgiveness
We have been forgiven much in this life by our Creator & Lord.
But we had to seek His forgiveness ~ admit our wrong doing & turn from our wicked ways.
We should all seek forgiveness from  those we have wronged/hurt.

38 Work Ethic
I am thankful for men/women who display a good, solid, steady, dependable work ethic. Getting up everyday, working hard, earning a paycheck, caring for your family are all important ~ our children have a good example in their Daddy's work ethic!  And I appreciate all his efforts for our family.

39.  Thank You's
I am thankful when someone says "thank you".  Have you ever given a gift and gotten nothing in return?  Its especially awkward when you are face to face and the person just puts down the gift and never says thank you, oh how nice, or anything.

40.  Blessings
The Lord blesses us daily.  And all blessings aren't material things.  A gorgeous sunset, an unexpected phone call, email with pictures, nice words on facebook, a hug.  We are blessed by reading Gods word, by hearing a powerful sermon, by fellowshipping with other believers, by listening to beautiful music, by watching our children have fun together.  None of those involve money ~ but the Lord does bless us materially also and we are forever thankful, grateful, and humbled by His provisions in our lives.

A Month Of THANKFULNESS

Thanksgiving continues....

31.  Routines
I love having a routine ~ mostly knowing what I am going to do on any given day.
Mon.- Thurs. are school days
Friday is home ec day
Mon & Thursday are laundry days
Wed. night is church
Sunday morning is church

32.  Homeschooling
I've written lots about the privilege and blessing this is in our lives.
I am looking forward to supporting any of our children who chose this way of education for their own families!  (but also for supporting our children who chose other methods of ed. too!)
Its just a school choice, it a lifestyle choice.

33. being a Keeper at Home
the laundry, cooking, caring for our children, upkeep of our home, cleaning, caring for my husband ~ its great to be able to fulfill this Biblical lifestyle on a day to day basis.  I love being Greg's helmeet!

34.  Time
to pray, to clean, to cook, to love, the listen, to craft, to pinterest, to blog, to read, to sing,
to garden, to preserve food, to gift, etc.

35.  Answers
answer to questions, to ponderings, to emails, to theology, to problems, to requests, to skills
I know everyone is busy, but we've all got the same 24 hours in a day ~

A month of THANKFULNESS

Thankfulness.....

22.  Food
store bought, homegrown, canned, frozen, fresh, boxed, dried, on my shelves food!

23.  Modern Kitchen Appliances
wheat grinder, dishwasher, oven, microwave, mixers, food processor, etc.  They make our jobs as homemakers easier and quicker.

24.  The Availability of Recipes
we've got our "go to" favorites, new ones to try, and lots of sites out there offering new ones.
Amy & I are now searching for copycat recipes from restaurants!

25.  Modesty
Women & Men
If your clothes should cover it...then let them do their job.  It doesn't have to be turtlenecks and floor length skirts ~ but most clothing today should have a could have a couple of more yards of material strategically placed.  We notice and appreciate modestly dress folks of any age.

26. My Upbringing
As children/teens my sister and I were corrected, spanked, taken to church, expected to tell the truth, taught to respect our elders, LOVED by our parents, expected to get good grades in school, taken out for special occasions, given some fun family vacations.  We knew what was expected of us and what would happen if we didn't obey/measure up/toe the line, etc.  We didn't always appreciate it ~ I certainly did not live in the house that all the others talked about...."well, Donna's parents let her do it, why can't I", but I am sure on more than one occasion I wondered why others got to do things that I didn't.  My mom is one of my best friends~  and I would love to have more talks with my Daddy...that reunion will be sweet in heaven!

27.  My Grandmothers
We were blessed with some crafty grandmothers.  My Mama cooked, sewed, and could crochet circles around anyone.  She loved her family, God, and the Atlanta Braves!  My Grandma was a good cook and loved to quilt.  We are very blessed to have such a great heritage of these Godly women who invested in our lives.  Both are reaping their Heavenly reward now.

28.  Creativity
There is an explosion of information, ideas, patterns, etc. on the internet.  I am thankful to be able to accomplish some of these crafts and have friends who can teach/guide/instruct me how to do the ones I want to learn.   I want to learn more crochet techniques and how to tat.  I've taken classes or been shown how to sew, quilt, smock, embroider, cross stitch, and crochet And have been able to pass some of that information on to others.

29.  Our Keepers At Home girls group
In a world that looks down upon being a keeper at home, a housewife, an at home mom ~ its fun to be in a group with other girls and moms that have the same goals for their girls as I do for mine.  We laugh, learn, pray, and have fun together.  We learn new skills, exchange ideas, work on fair projects, and encourage each other and our daughters.  This is also a great point to put in a big thank you to a blog reader, Deb.  Deb. sent me a bag full of Keepers Achievement Pens...Amy has gone through the pens to get out the ones she has earned & we will be passing some on to the girls in the group.  Thanks DEB!

30.  Music
I love it!  Mostly all kinds (no heavy metal).  As a teenager I was in our highschool chorus, in youth choir at church, and loved to attend concerts.  Now my preferences are contemporary Christian, hymns, country, and 40's-70's music.  I prefer music that I can understand the words and lyrics with no cussing.  We are in our churchs christmas music program at church and are enjoying all the practice, camaraderie, and working on something to bring glory to God.

A Month of THANKFULNESS!

During this month of Thankfulness...
I am going to re-start counting my blessings...
This list will be random, not in any particular order, important to me, & heartfelt.  Some listings will be long and some will be short.  All will be mine!!!!!

1.  My Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ
HE paid the ultimate price of HIS life for HIS children.
I am forever thankful, grateful, humbled, "in awe", of HIS example, HIS sacrifice, HIS saving grace, HIS word, HIS love.

2.  The Bible ~ God's Holy Word
Everything we need for daily life is contained in the Bible.
We've got many different translations ~ some we held onto for sentimental reasons.
The New King James is my favorite "sit down & read" translation.  But I also compare some passages to other versions.  Any questions....we go to the Literal Translation...which is the translation from the original language to English (before it got cleaned up and made grammatically correct by scholars)

3.  Our Pastor
Bro. Jeff preaches the Word.  From the Word.
He is easy to understand, doesn't talk down to his congregation, and doesn't sugar coat the truth.

4.  My Husband, Greg
I am always thankful for his provision, his love, his generosity, his creativity, his handyman skills, his willingness to try new things, his love for our children, his fun times, his surprises, his hugs, his Faith, his leading us, his encouragement, and so many more attributes.  I never want to take for granted his presence in my life.  I love our life together!

5.  Our Children, James, Andy, Rob, Allen, Katie, Will & Amy
They are all talented, beautiful, loving, Christian young men and women.

6.  Our new son, Bryant
He is a hardworking young, Christian man who is taking good care of our Katie & our grandbaby,Robert.

7.  Our newest little love, Robert
Being a grandparent is Awesome!  I love each and every minute of our time with this little blessing!  Yep, even the dirty diaper times!  He is a joy to us and we pray for him daily.

8.  Our soon to be daughters, Amy Kate & Jennifer
We love you for who you are and for loving our sons, Andy & Allen!  We are excited about adding to the girl members of our "Jackson/McDaniel" mafia!

9.  Our parents
We wouldn't be who we are without y'all!  We love you and pray the Lords richest blessings on your lives.  Thanks for loving your grandchildren & praying for them!  Thanks for bringing us up in Christian homes and taking us to church.  Thanks for loving us, praying for us, guiding us, providing for us, and providing us with great childhoods.

10.  Our siblings
Greg & I each have a sister!  Brenda & Sabrina
We love y'all!

11.  Our Home
The Lord has provided us with a warm, snug, cozy, home to call our own (well, us & the bank)
We love to be home with each other and any children that are here.   We like having a large enough kitchen to cook, homeschool and share in.  We like long nights together over jigsaw puzzles, crafting, sharing warm meals, or watching a tv show.

More thankfulness to come!

More Cross Stitch Freebies from Pinterest

I admit it....I am addicted to finding freebie cross stitch charts on Pinterest.
And some of these gals obviously don't have a life....or time to stitch.  Many have over 2000 pins and I've seen a few over 3000 pins.  Now there are some duplicates on there but I figure she just forgot what she had.  And, yes, we are using some of them.  We've printed off and stitched 6 of our 260+ finds.  And have several more printed off waiting for needle and thread.
We've found some that we put on the board just because they made us laugh.
And I am amazed at the people who take the time to stitch these pictures that contain cursing ~ that doesn't make any sense to me ~ and its just tacky!
I've pinned stuff for others to get from me...several patterns for Amy Lynn, Amy Kate, and some of our Keepers friends!  There are so many patterns available for free that I could potentially never have to buy another one ~ just heavily invest in printer ink.....but I've asked Greg not to hold me to that!

Amy Lynn is "into" owls, so we've got lots of different ones. She is doing one in cross stitch and I did the same one in needlepoint.  Lots of these we are personalizing the colors.  If AL has a choice they will be bright.  Here are some new finds from the last week.

And did I mention they were FREE?  Pretty frugal idea option...except for the printer ink!
