"Threads of Grace" by Kelly Long
"This book is about the riveting story of a young Amish girl, Grace. Grace's parents are deeply in debt and make a decision that will change Grace's life forever. Throughout the book, she is faced with struggles, consequences, and threats as a result of that decision. Years later, she moves to a new community, to "start over" again and build a new life, but the trouble follows her. All through the story, she is shown the Lords love and grace toward His children & He leads her to building new relationships & places trustworthy people in her life.
It was a riveting story and the first I have read by this author. But it won't be the last. The author kept my attention and there were many unexpected twists in the plot ~ all to enhance the story. I would love to read a sequel to this story and keep the characters going. I did not want the book to end!"

Book Review for Booksneeze
"Every Perfect Gift" by Dorothy Love
This book is set in the Deep South in the 1880's.
Unlike many books, this book started out intriguing and stayed that way throughout ~ beginning to end. The main characters the plotline wove around were Sophie and Ethan but there were many subplots throughout to keep you guessing and wondering what was going to happen. One of the mysteries surrounding Sophie, concerned her lineage in the Old South & whether the mystery of her family or truth of her family, would affect her has an adult like it did when she was a child.
I can't say too much more without giving away details that you need to read. I haven't read a book lately that was hard to put down ~ but this one was hard to put down. I read it cover to cover in 2 1/2 days!

Book Revue
I received this book for free from Booksneeze to review over a year ago. The title is "Living With Confidence in a Chaotic World" by Dr. David Jeremiah. When I read it a year ago, I did not like it. I can't remember all the exact reasons, but I am remembering that it was boring. And since I didn't want to do a negative review, I put it on the shelf and forgot about it. At the end of 2012, I was going over the list of books I had read and scanning my bookshelf, I remembered this book. Then the guilt set in because I had gotten the book, agreed to review it, and not done it. So I reread the book. Here is the 2013 version of my "take" on the book. Some of the review will be a repeat of this paragraph~

"Living with Confidence in a Chaotic World"

"I have read this book twice in the last year, before writing this review. The initial time I read the book, I didn't like it ~ maybe because I was hopeful that the current events would change and we would not have to deal with what is described in the book. Upon reading the book for the 2nd time, I realize that the world is still heading in a one way direction toward destruction, especially the United States. There are so many different philosophies being preached as Truth, that are very far from Biblical Truth. In the STAY CALM chapter, the author very clearly points out the Biblical truth for Salvation referencing Matthew 7:14, John 8:24, Acts 4:12 and 1 Timothy 2:5. These verses are not the ones you will hear being preached by most of the tv preachers, but they are Gods truth. In another chapter we are encouraged to STAY CONNECTED. On page 112, the author writes 'The church is not a building. No, it is not even the people. It is actually the living presence of a holy God in a fallen world. It is the tangible evidence of an invisible hope, dressed in the skin of all the people who have found that hope.' Wow! Each chapter of the book starts with the word Stay ~ as Christians we aren't to waver in our faith, hope, love of Christ. We are to STAY, CALM, COMPASSIONATE, CONSTRUCTIVE, CHALLENGED, CONNECTED, CENTERED, CONFIDENT, CONSISTENT, COMMITTED, CONVINCED."

Book Review...
I read the book "Love and Respect for a Lifetime" by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs
The book eloquently states that "Women absolutely need love and Men absolutely need respect".
It also points out..."Oh that couples would discover the power of Love and Respect. Love and Respect are like oxygen to a suffocating person and this is one reason why God commands a husband to love and a wife to respect".
I totally agree with the above but I would also like to add that wives need respect and husbands need love also. Its a give/give, 2 way street. I think this would be an excellent gift book for newly married couples, for couples about to marry and for couples that are struggling in their marriage. For couples with a great marriage, I think this would be a little repetitive.

Book Review
2 weeks ago, I received a new book by Max Lucado entitled"Out Live Your Life". This is the first Max Lucado book that I have read but it won't be the last. In this book Mr. Lucado points out time and time again that the Lord created us to make a difference in this world. And that through the Lord and with his guidance & strength we can be used and Out Live Our Lives. He uses 21 real life stories to bring this point home. These stories range from people who were impacted from their visits to other countries to people who recognize needs in their own communities. There are touching stories that make you feel good and stories that will keep you awake at night praying for all the people involved.
The story that shocked and impacted my "knowledge" of the cruelty and depravity of some other cultures was in Chapter 3. The story that gripped my heart was about the sex trade traffic in Cambodia. These women witnessed the selling of young girls into forced prostitution. They came back from their trip and JoAnne wrote an article about their experience. This article sent shockwaves through her readers and some began to send her checks to help these children. The women started a ministry named "World Hope International" and began rescuing girls from this perversion. In 3 years more than 400 children were rescued, ranging in ages 2-15. When I read the age 2, my heart was shattered for these babies. They were used in horrible ways by people in Satans stronghold. At the age of 2,3,4 etc. these little ones should be playing dolls and teaparties and dress up. I spent many hours praying for these children, both the rescued and the ones still waiting to be rescued.
Not all of the stories in the book, griped my heart like that one did. But, they all made an impact on me. In the United States, we live a sheltered life. We don't realize what really goes on in other parts of the world. Even watching stories on tv doesn't impact us like it should. But when you sit down and read, you have time to ponder and reflect.
What difference do we make in our lives and our world. Is there a mission the Lord has placed in front of us that needs our participation. Have you asked the Lord how he wants to use you and your talents to further his kingdom? How can you "Out Live Your Life"? What will folks remember you for? The Lord can use any of us in big and little ways. It doesn't have to be a big ministry with lots of pomp and circumstance. Seek the Lord and do his Will. While reading this book the Bible verse that kept running through my head was Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". The Lord will give us the strength for the job he sets before us.
On page 7 of the book Mr. Lucado states "We are created by a great God to do great works. He invites us to outlive our lives, not just in heaven but here on earth. Here's a salute to a long life: goodness that outlasts the final breath. May you live in such a way that your death is just the beginning of your life."
Ephesians 2:10 "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
