Countertop

Our new kitchen was blessed with some quite unusual finishes (all formica cabinets) and some original to the home appliances.  We took out the old oven ~ which was tiny by all standards and the built in microwave and Greg bought us nice double ovens.

Our countertop renovation was granite for the island ~ get rid of the huge cooktop (only 2 burners worked) and get a new flat cooktop.  They installed the countertop yesterday and then Greg installed our new cooktop!  Ah, I had 3 burners last night that worked ~ didn't need the 4th one last night.

Next improvement may be paint!

Thankful for ~

Action Packed Weekend

We started our weekend with a day trip to South Carolina to visit Katie and our grandboys ~ just a 2 hour trip from the farm!

We spent the day playing, blowing bubbles, riding bikes, taking pictures, reading lots of books numerous times, watching "Cars", eating pizza, taking a nap, protecting the backyard with a stick gun (as Katie says, Robert will be the kid who gets expelled from school for eating his sandwich into a gun shape and powing someone ~ everything is a gun to him), looking a new clothes from the consignment sale, and eating enchiladas for dinner when Bryant got home from work.  Miss Katie is 1 week from her due date with son #3, so we will be making another trip quite soon!

Andy & AmyKate came on Sat. and stayed through Sunday!  Andy, Greg, Will, & James got the flooring in the livingroom completely finished and the furniture set back up. It looks awesome.  Greg cooked ribs and Granny joined us for dinner.  Amy Kate sells Jamberry Nails and she gave me a pedicure on Sat. night and put my jamberries on ~ so now my toenails are pink with tiny multicolored polkadots.

Sunday morning was church ~ with Andy, AmyK and Granny joining us ~ we packed an entire row at church.  Then lunch at home and off to Aidens first birthday party.

Lots of goodies to eat, presents to open, little ones to hold, toys to play with!  Aiden did great during the festivities and loved having little kids around.  My great niece Hailey (age 4) & my great nephew Daniel (16 weeks) came.  Aiden got lots of new toys & clothes & remarkably enough, none of his toys were duplicates of any other gift or anything he already had.  (The year monopoly jr. came out, between James birthday on 12-18 and Christmas Day, I think he received 4 or 5).

Here are some pictures!

Birthday!

One year ago today ~ our 3rd grandson was born!  He was a tiny bitty buddy, weighing just over 5 pounds ~ now he is a bundle of energy who can crawl fast, take a few steps (but crawling is much faster), has a mouth full of teeth, loves his blankies, pacies, books, trucks/tractors, mickey mouse and paw patrol cartoons.

We are Still Here!

We are still here!  Life has been exceedingly busy around here.

Highlights (or lowlights)

Greg has been ripping up our "lovely" blue carpet from the dining/living room and replacing it with hardwood floors.  It looks immensely better.  We are using the same flooring we put in our bedroom in MS from Home Depot.

I worked at our local ginormous (translation~really, really big) childrens consignment sale 4 different days and Greg worked with me on 2 of them.  We got enough credits to get all the grand young'uns loads of clothes.  Cost to us was about $26.

We did an IKEA trip with Andy and AmyKate to look around and eat lunch.

Helped Mom clean some stuff out.  She is about to put her house on the market.

Our little Aiden turns a year old tomorrow!  Can't believe is been a year!

And our `next little blessing, Alvin, will arrive in the next couple of weeks.

We are going to enter the local fair next month.  We've got some stuff that we were going to enter in Miss., so we're kind of ready for it!

Amy and I had our first crafting day, today.  Its been months since we had all day to work together.  Just needed Angel here to make the day complete.

Greg set our stupid rooster free last week.  The rooster had a terrible, possessive attitude over our chicken coop.  He didn't want us anywhere near the coop.  He had to go.  He was set free about 50 miles from here.

Greg fulfilled one of his farmer dreams....and is now the proud owner of a tractor.

The weather has cooled off a little.  And we've had some torrential rain storms.

Ready for football season to start~

Bye till I turn on the laptop again!

Goings On!

Good grief, it is hot.  I am getting weary of hot days and so ready for cooler fall temperatures!  I am missing the pool.

We planted a fall garden and will see what comes up ~ and what the deer leave alone.  We did plant more green beans, some zuchinni & yellow squash, and pumpkins.

School starts in our county tomorrow and I know more will be started by Thursday and Friday.  We've been able to take advantage of some great back to school deals at Staples and Office Depot and get stuff for our shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child.

This past weekend, Greg, Amy and I drove back to Miss. for the closing on a trailer we owned ~ yippee, its sold!  Then we drove to Hattiesburg to meet her young man and his parents for dinner ~ we sat there for well over 2 hours, visiting, eating & enjoying the fellowship.  Sat., Amy and Austin drove around meeting some of his relatives, eating lunch and seeing a movie.  Greg and I had a great lunch visit with some friends down there and then went over to his parents house and spent the afternoon.  Again, great fellowship and laughter.

We joined a church here in GA a couple of weeks ago, and joined the choir also.  Its fun to be praising the Lord with other believers.  Christmas music starts soon!  There are about 40 in the choir and they have an orchestra.  We've found a Sunday School class we like,  This church also has a Sunday night service and a Wed. night service.

We have gotten to the stage in some of our rooms of being able to hang pictures!  Gregs got the bathroom painted, the cabinet hung above the potty, a shelf hung for my essential oils, pictures hung and our towel bars are hung!  The sewing room is getting organized but still not completely there.  I did get a small table runner done from a kit I purchased 2 years ago in New York.  The laundry room has 2 shelves now, so that room is getting organized too.  My clothes line is quite near the driveway door so its very convenient to use.  And that hot weather that I am tired of, does do a good job at drying our clothes.  We've go to decide on flooring for the living room, dining area and kitchen ~ and also decide what to do about the kitchen cabinets (sorry major big box chainstore, we are not paying $27,000 for you to resurface our cabinets and hang new doors ~ and yes, that is an actual quote we were given!). Greg is at a woodworking class, learning how to make cabinet doors ~ I am willing to bet, he can do it for much less that 27,000!

James is really liking being at Caterpillar.  He has trained at 4 different stations on the line now ~ every bit of his training and accomplishing these tasks makes him a more valuable employee.  He seems to be doing fine with the odd hours 5pm to 3:30am.  Its been just 4 days a week, but this week will add in Fridays and possibly Sat.

One of the first things we did when we moved, was get new library cards.  The library has an awesome program where you can link your kindle up to a site and access 1000's of books for free! I couldn't get my kindle to connect, so we went back on Thursday and a librarian up there got mine and Gregs connected.  Since we got this great, new venue for free books, we did cancel our prime unlimited book subscription with Amazon.
