Busy Times

We are traveling now.  Tuesday night we stayed in Fort Payne, Ala.  the only really interesting thing that happened on that leg of the journey was a phone call from my friend Rosana.  I am doing a small sewing class for some girls and moms in our homeschool group and we are doing a skirt.  When she called, she asked if I could teach her how to put a maternity panel in her skirt...excuse me...what did you say!!!!  Yep, in Nov. my little baby twin friends are going to be big sisters.  More smocking, whoo hoo!  She did ask to make sure I could smock for a boy ~ I've never done it but am willing to try!  We'll see if the Lord sends a boy or girl.

Wed. we got to Smith Mtn. Lake where my in-laws live.  On the way, Greg took a well appreciated detour into Pigeon Forge, TN so we could eat lunch at 5 Guys Burgers and Fries.  Yummy!  We got to the lake about 6 or so.  Ate dinner and then Greg's sister and her family got here.

I started crocheting on my baby afghan for a Fair entry.  I really like this soft yarn and this will be the largest thing I've ever done.  In my non-crochet time today, we spread a truck load of mulch on the side of a mtn. ~ not too much of an exageration!  My hauling mulch changed to scooping mulch into wheelbarrows after I fell and landed hard on my back side.  Not fun and painful.  We will all be sore in the morning...just in time for the next load to be delivered. Oh goody (sarcasm intended).  I will admit, it looks really good but thats hard work.

Amy is trying to teach cousin Samantha how to crochet.  I don't know how far the lessons have gotten but they're enthusiastic about it.  Katie is working on a gift, so her crochet needle is smoking too!

I think we are going to try to hit the Goodwill Store in the morning.  Amy & Katie want to look at skirts and dresses.  Hopefully, the plans will work out.

Tonight I got a stressful phone call ~ Rosana called to tell me Marie had been taken to ambulance to the ER.  They don't know what is going on and the dr.s are running lots of tests.  So lots of prayers are going up for my best buddy and I pray the Lord will give the doctors and nurses the knowledge to best treat her.  Love you Rie!  Its really distressing me that I am 100's of miles away.  So I will just pray lots and lots!

  1. I want badly to make an afghan or another shawl ... it is so much fun to see the final product of a larger project.

    I hope y'all have a great trip ...
