Donna's Sloppy Joes
1 lb. ground beef
1 lg. onion chopped
1 cup water
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons worchestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
Brown the ground beef and onion until cooked through. Drain the grease.
Add water, ketchup and seasonings.
Cook slowly uncovered (on stovetop) for 30 minutes or until thickened.
Serve on hamburger buns.
Serves about 4.
We always double or triple this recipe when we cook it. Whatever isn't eaten at dinnertime is refrigerated and reheated for lunches or frozen for another time.
This is sooooo much better than the canned sloppy joe stuff or the packaged mixes and used ingredients most of us already have on hand.
*If you make it with ground venison ~ you can change the name to Sloppy Does! (thanks Greg)
we always drain our ground beef in a colander to remove as much grease as possible. |
Hope you enjoy the recipe and your family loves it as much as mine does!!!!!
