Oh, you KNOW you wanted to see more baby pictures!

We staged our own photo shoot tonight....
many with pinterest inspired ideas ~ of course we think our baby is what makes the pics so cute!

Grandma & Grandpa cradling their first grandchild

3 generations....Katie, Robert & Greg

kisses for the baby

See now aren't you glad you saw these? (If not...I don't want to know!)
We had fun....Robert, maybe not so much!  He especially hated having his foot painted and then put on the cross stitch picture and canvas~! His rt. footprint on the cross stitch is a little smeared ~ he was over the "fun" by then.  My goal is to have a cross stitch for every grandchild and put their footprints on it.  His name and birthdate will be added!

this is the "secret" baby quilt I've been hinting about...its cross stitched and then hand quilted.

lots of love in every stitch from Grandma to Robert!
Now, its bedtime.  The grandson is exhausted and so are his parents!

Good night!

Using some ideas from Pinterest

Wow!  There are some creative folks in this world.  And I am "gleaning" ideas left and right on Pinterest!  Its really fun to search for the "buried treasures", pin them to your own boards, and then see which of your friends likes them.  I can pretty much predict which friends are going to like which pins!

And dear Amy Lynn is coming up with stuff I never dreamed existed...
her funny "found" quote yesterday....
"Good moms let you lick the beaters, Great moms turn off the mixer first"
Thankfully, on this I fall into the great moms category!

Then she found this..

At least 3 of my 5 sons would have loved this in their bedroom as little boys!

I found a good "keep Amy busy project"!  And set her to work the other day....

Our wood floor cleaning duster needed a new pad ~ the other had a hole in it ~ found the perfect solution on pinterest....

Here are the results....
Oh, she went upstairs with the directions, figured it all out, and took all the pictures of the various steps~
measured the duster head and added 2 inches to each side

used my favorite color!  Bought these throws 1 1/2 years ago at Walgreens for $1

cutting the fabric to fit the pattern (doubled because this fleece is thinner)
made sure it would fit before she sewed

her "new" machine hard at work
the finished project ~ one blanket yeilded 4 dust heads + one happy Mom!  Thanks Amy!
I've seen lots of neat organizational stuff for sewing rooms ~ so I got started last week...

jumbled fabric shelves full of crafting potential
neatly rolled "I can see what I have" fabric
And pictures of fabric I bought several years ago at a quilt shop near my mother in law in VA...

I don't know what I am doing with it yet, but these animals are so cute!  Maybe they will have more animals this summer when we are up there!  I see a quilt for a future grandbaby, some where in those goofy expressions!

I "collect" fabric (guess thats really a "duh" statement since you can see the closet).  But honestly, there is fabric in there that I don't think I bought/acquired/stole out of moms closet.  Maybe a fabric fairy "blessed" me with some goodies ~ wonder if I could leave a list and could get more that way?

A friend works at a print shop and he brought me all the cardboard to roll the fabric on ~ plus his wife and daughter supplied me too!  So I can organize, clean, find, discover, wonder all to my hearts content.

But then I discovered that the cutting table I am using to work on is way too short (kinda funny coming from someone who is only 5'2") So, I've been researching cutting/work tables ~ another project for Greg to add to his "honey do" list!

Happy Tuesday!

Another Week!

We are one week closer to the birth of our little Bobby blessing.
I see cutesy babies everywhere.
Will our grandbaby be...
a bald baby?
or
a head full of hair baby?,
a chubby baby?
or
a slender baby?,
a content baby?
or
a fussy baby?

Actually, none of these really matter.
He is a blessing from the Lord to all our families!
The beginning of the next generation!
A much prayed about, greatly anticipated blessing!

This grandma's prayer....

Colossians 1: 9-11

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might according to His glorious power for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

The biggest question of all....
Will it be this week?
or Next week?

50th Anniversary "Team work" Gift

Our church friends Mr. Charles and Miss Charlotte celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this week.

Miss Charlotte "hinted" that she would like a rag quilt after I gave her great grand daughter one as a birthday gift.

Cheryl (her daughter) and Angel (her granddaughter) asked me to help them.  So Cheryl and Angel bought all the fabric and batting & cut all the squares.  They brought them to me to do the sewing.  All the squares were numbered with row number and square number (this will be important later!).

So I got to sewing...and sewed....and sewed....and the sewed some more.
The biggest rag quilt I had ever done was 72 squares (8 across & 9 down)...this one was 288 squares ~ 16 across and 18 down.  It will fit a king size bed.  Cheryl & Angel layed out the front and back of each square~ the back pattern would make a large M, for their last name, and have a decorative border. (Keep that in mind too...its important) The front was a somewhat random pattern.

Last Saturday, I had 1/2 the quilt finished.  So my friends helped me clip during Amy's party.  After lunch, I got busy and FINISHED sewing the squares for all the rows together.  Because of the heaviness of the overall quilt, I had Amy come help me hold it up and guide through the machine.  It was impossible to do it alone,  as it kept slipping to the side because of how heavy it was.

I got the 2 huge sections stitched together and hemmed down one side.   Then something caught my eye....row 12 ~ laying on the floor.  Argh~  Amy and I really tried to come up with a way to ignore row 12 but since there was a pattern on the back, I couldn't leave it off...the M would have still worked but not the border.  So I had to take apart rows 11 & 13 and insert row 12.  Then seam all 4 sides.

Yesterday, after cutting up all the fruit for the party.  We spread the quilt out and finished clipping.

It was an act of love for a special couple.

Here are 2 pictures ~
As we are taking the pictures, I hear a lady saying, "Who made that quilt, I sure would like one."  And I am thinking "WHAT?"

Anyway,  Happy Anniversary to a sweet couple"

Busy Day

We will be up at the church all morning...helping to get ready for a 50th anniversary party for a couple at church!  Its my little buddy Ragen's great grandparents celebration.

We've got tables and chairs to set up, fruit and vegies to cut for serving tomorrow, and a quilt to finish clipping.  Pictures tomorrow after 4!

My 3 friends that were in the pic, yesterday clipping, are the same 3 friends that gave 2 days of their busy fall to help with Katie's wedding.  In fact, not only did they help...they did the whole reception ~ set up, serving, and clean up ~~~~ they are awesome and I am indebted to them!

These are pics from Katie's wedding photographer and I can't figure out how to resize them...so they are big.

16

Several months ago, Amy turned 16.
We waited to have her party until this last Saturday.
What could be better than eating chocolate and swimming with friends on a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning?

Oreo cupcakes by Amy ~ she found the recipe on the internet, we loved the cupcakes, the icing needs some work.

ready for our guests

seeing the chocolate Miss Angel put in the basket!

Girly bath stuff from the Beasleys!

new "noodle" chair for the pool from us

Lauren, Vida Jo, Amy, Emmalyn, Ragen, Kaytee Beth & Sarah

Just found what could be better than just chocolate & swimming....3 precious friends helping me clip a rag quilt!

As we were clipping, one of these ladies commented this was like an old fashioned quilting bee ~ all working together to accomplish a task!  I love it!  And I love my friends!

Thanks for helping us celebrate Amy's 16th birthday ~ a tad late.

And for those who are wondering what the boys were doing....they were with the youth boys and men at our church pelting each other with paintballs for the day.
